Jiaming Wang

I’m currently living my “second life” as a PhD candidate at NUS, advised by Harold Soh. Previously, I was a serial entrepreneur who founded multiple startups (one acquired) and took a gap year at Oxford to study theology and philosophy. I now build AI and robotics systems that can safely navigate the open world without a map. Full story →

Looking for Student Researchers

I'm actively looking for motivated students to work on cutting-edge problems in robot navigation and embodied AI in general. My research has earned Best Paper Awards at top conferences and won the ERC Global Autonomous Navigation Challenge. I approach research with an entrepreneurial mindset—prioritizing rapid prototyping, real-world deployment, and practical impact.

My past students have gone on to excellent opportunities, including offers from CUHK and NUS, as well as collaborations with leading research groups. I emphasize hands-on mentorship, giving students real ownership of projects and fostering both technical depth and independent thinking.

If you're passionate about robotics, have strong programming skills (Python/C++, ROS2), and want to build real systems that matter, feel free to explore upcoming opportunities or reach out directly.
